Got balls?

If you read kuaptic on a regular basis (We know who you are. All five of you!) you know that we're all for progress, if there's a good reason for it, but contend that today we tend to just ditch things, things that have meaning and wonder, with no justification at all.

Such is the case with the 76 Ball. If you're like us, you grew up with these spinning, orange UFOs bobbing over streets and freeways all over Southern California. Now that 76 has merged with Conoco Phillips, they are taking our balls and replacing them with a flat sign, with a representation of the 76 ball, now in red.

No one can forget the festive 76 balls, decorated as Jack'o'Lanterns for Halloween. Or being used as antennae toppers. There was something silly and toy like about them, even if we didn't often go to 76 because their gas is more expensive.

Don't let them take your balls. Visit
